After some delays, the Fort St. John residents can begin lacing up their skates for the official opening of the Enerplex.
The recreational facility will have its grand opening on Oct. 13 with a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 6 p.m.
Wednesday’s event will include live entertainment from the band ‘Folky Strum Strum’ and a group of local artists that will be performing a song written especially for the Enerplex’s grand opening, says Recreation Programmer Serena Warkentine.
She says there will also be F18s that will fly over the building and a fireworks exhibit.
The following day, there will be a spot for the facility’s biggest sports user groups – minor hockey, speed skating and figure skating – to have demonstrations and workshops, which she says will probably include learning how to speed skate or figure skate.
Thursday’s festivities will include free food and free admittance to the Enerplex between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Residents can get more information about the event by calling the City at 250-787-8150 or by visiting the City’s website.
