The forest fires in the Cariboo region of B.C. is the cause for the hazy skies around Fort St. John.
Fire information officers from the Prince George Fire Centre say there is a general haze across most of British Columbia and further into parts of western Canada, even stretching down into Seattle in the U.S.
Since July 28, there have been over 40 new fires that started in the Cariboo region, alone.
There is only one wildfire near the city at this time, at Necoslie River, southeast of Fort St. John.
The fire is still in an initial attack phase; however officials say it is still quite small.
