One man has been charged with several different offences in response to a vehicle hit and run in Grande Prairie Sunday morning.
The man was allegedly driving a Ford Taurus when he hit a parked car at around 7 a.m. and then left the scene on foot.
Police say the man was caught a few blocks away. During the investigation, police seized 6 grams of crack cocaine and over $2,000 in cash. The car had also been found to have been stolen from Clairmont, Alberta.
Cody Smith, 22, of Edmonton has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, possession of proceeds of crime, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to comply with a court order, and driving without a valid driver’s licence.
He appeared in court in Grande Prairie, Monday, and will remain in custody until his next court appearance at the end of August.
