Fort St. John fire crews spent Monday night battling a massive blaze at the Peace Valley OSB.
The fire began in the dry bin area at around 10:05 p.m., says Fire Chief Fred Burrows, adding that the last of the crews didn’t return to the station until 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Burrows says the fire was probably one of the biggest the department has had to battle at the plant and there was extensive damage.
Due to the extent of the fire, the Taylor fire department had to cover any calls the Fort St. John department would have gotten, he says.
There is no word on what caused the fire and Burrows says it may take some time to determine.
We are currently waiting for more information from management at the OSB plant.
