Other group speaks out against Site C

You can add, the McLeod Lake Indian Band to the growing list of officially declared opponents of the Peace River Site-C dam project.

Chief Derek Orr says the dam, which would be located on the band’s traditional territory, would wipe out prime hunting and gathering grounds.

He says the band has already lost enough in that regard with the development of the WAC Bennett Dam’s, Williston Reservoir, in the late 1960’s.

To punctuate its opposition, the band has returned a BC Hydro cheque, worth more than $100,000, which was supposed to help it take part, in the Site-C consultation process.
