Train derailment near Chetwynd

Map:  The derailment is approximately 64km west of Chetwynd.

A train carrying mostly lumber has derailed west of Chetwynd.

The Chetwynd RCMP were notified of a trail derailment 64km west of Chetwynd at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Canadian National Rail says 14 railcars were involved in the accident.

At this time there are no known injuries. One car was carrying environmental products, but is not leaking.

The Ministry of Environment as well as dangerous goods personnel have been contacted by Canadian National Rail and are working to resolve the problem.
