City advising residents of debris burning

There will be some burning of land clearing debris in the area of the West Bypass in Fort St. John starting Friday.

The area is located between 102 and 106 Ave. and 108 and 116 St.

The land developer is going to be using excavators to put the debris into large drums where it will be burned.

The drums will also be fed considerable amounts of air to hasten the burning.

The City wants to advise residents that the contractor has obtained all required permits from the Ministry of the Environment and has been working with the Ministry and the fire department on a burning plan.

City officials say the contractor is aware of the issues associated with burning debris within city boundaries and is attempting to ensure the process is done efficiently and effectively.

They add the burning should only occur in two locations at any given time.
