The new fire hall in Fort St. John is set to move ahead as scheduled after City Council received an update, Monday, on the companies that met the pre-qualification requirements.
A review committee had examined eleven submissions and chose five that met certain requirements, including if the contractor had previously constructed a municipal building – specifically a fire hall – and/or built a LEED certified building says Deputy Fire Chief Curtis Redpath.
Redpath says it was also important that the contractor would be able to begin construction as soon as possible.
Although there has not been a deadline set for the tenders to be submitted, Redpath says he hopes construction will begin this winter.
The new fire hall will be located on 93rd Avenue behind Sobeys and will be slightly less than 2,500 square metres, more than double the size of the current station.
