Local organization to camp out on pool roof

The Fort St. John Big Brothers Big Sisters is holding their annual Rooftop Challenge on top of the North Peace Leisure Pool.

The Challenge is put on to raise public awareness of the organization and to recruit new volunteers, says Executive Director Danielle Armstrong.

This year’s Challenge – sponsored by Terra Energy Corporation – will allow the organization to raise awareness of the various programs it offers for children in the community, including help with sports funding.

She says the challenge will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday and participants will be staying on the roof throughout the day and overnight until 3 p.m. Friday or until the organization gets between 20 and 25 volunteer inquiries.

As an added incentive for residents, the organization will also be sponsoring a free family and public swim from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
