Rotary makes $100,000 donation to CDC

The Fort St. John Rotary Club has donated $100,000 to the Child Development Centre.

The donation will help the CDC create a new, high quality early learning play centre. The Rotary Play Centre will focus on developmentally appropriate activities for both infant and toddlers along with their parent or caregiver.

Penny Gagnon, executive director of the CDC, says “We believe the Rotary Play Centre will be a safe place where children’s attachment and bond with their parent or caregiver can be enhanced through social emotional development and learning together.”

The Centre has been modelled after two Strongstart Centre’s that are already operating in School District 60 facilities. A facilitator will be on hand to encourage appropriate activities and the centre will be open to everyone in the community.

A grand opening ceremony for the Rotary Play Centre will be held Thursday at the CDC.
