Two grants up for grabs for non-profits

Non-profit organizations can now apply for two annual grants offered through the city.

The first, a base budget grant, would be for groups that offer a fee for service to the community.

The second, a discretionary grant, would provide assistance to an organization for a capital project or specific event.

There’s no maximum amount for which a group can apply, says Janet Prestley, director of legislative and administrative services at the City, adding that each application is reviewed and evaluated on an individual basis.

However, Prestley says each organization must demonstrate a need for the money. She says each will be given the opportunity to present its case to City Council at committee meetings in October.

The grant applications are available online at the City’s website.
