The Church of the Resurrection has kicked of a new $3.2 million dollar expansion.
At a sod turning ceremony Sunday, the Church officially announced construction of a 10,000 square foot expansion that will start in April 2011.
Shauna Goertzen, chair of the Pastoral Committee, says when they sold Immaculata Catholic School, the Church lost a large community gathering centre.

The Church has already raised approximately half the money needed and hopes to raise the rest before construction starts next spring. A large portion of the funds will also come from the sale of three acres of land the church owns in the area.
The hall will be a multi-purpose facility that will include meeting rooms, a modern kitchen and a large hall with a capacity of 350. It will be connected to the Church and will also have an additional
parking lot to accommodate large events.
The hall construction is expected to be completed by the fall of 2011.
