Enerplex officially opens its doors

Premier Gordon Campbell admires the new statue outside the Enerplex-Adam Reaburn

It was all celebrations on Wednesday at the official grand opening of the Enerplex in Fort St. John.

The first event was the unveiling of the statue at the front of the building which was designed by local sculptor Peter Vogelaar.

Called "To the Rink", the bronze statue is meant to capture the experience of the older residents of the city, while at the same time capturing the energy of the younger population. The unveiling of the statue was loudly applauded by all in attendance.

Premier Gordon Campbell and Mayor Bruce Lantz along with other dignataries cut the ribbon to the Enerplex-Adam Reaburn

Immediately after the statue unveiling, dignitaries and residents made their way to the front doors of the building for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Cutting the ribbon was Premier Gordon Campbell, Mayor Bruce Lantz and local MLA Pat Pimm, as well as other local dignataries. Also in attendance were hockey hall of famer Lanny McDonald and speed skaters Denny and Jay Morrison.
