Groundbreaking for senior's housing project

City and provincial officials took part in a formal groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of a new eight-unit development for seniors and people with disabilities.

With a strong need in Fort St. John for affordable housing for seniors and persons with disabilities the province allocated $940,000 to help with the project. The City of Fort St. John provided $313,000 in land equity to help get the project off the ground.

Minister of Housing and Social Development Rich Coleman was on hand for the ceremony and viewed this project as one that was very important.

A grounbreaking ceremony is slated to take place in Taylor for a similar project, where another eight-unit development is slated for construction.
