Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating two separate robberies in the city.
The first incident occurred on Sept. 21 at around 2:40 p.m. Police say they received a call that a 30 year-old Grande Prairie man had been assaulted near St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
They say the man had stopped to pick up a woman and after they drove around for a bit, the woman demanded cash from the man, adding that she had a weapon. The man apparently told her to leave the truck, but they began arguing.
Subsequently, a new silver or grey truck approached the victim’s vehicle and several males got out. They approached the victim’s vehicle and one of the males got into the victim’s truck at which point they began to fight.
Another of the suspects then hit the victim with a weapon. The males left the victim beside the road before taking off with his vehicle. Police say the suspects then drove north and the victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a bad injury near his eye.
The female suspect is described as aboriginal. She is tall and slender and has long, black hair.
One of the male suspects is described as Caucasian with a shaved head. He was wearing jeans and white shoes at the time of the incident.
The second incident occurred on Oct. 14. RCMP say a 34 year-old Fort St. John man had left a casino and got into a cab at around 2:15 a.m.
They say the man then went out in search of a prostitute and was taken to the area around 102 Street in the city. A female then told him they could meet at a hotel at 119 Ave. and 100 St.
Police say the female took a cab to the hotel and went to the man’s room where she told him that some of her friends would be bringing liquor to the room.
Two males and a second female subsequently entered the room and one of the male suspects held a knife to the victim’s throat. The other male suspect then hit the man in the head and they all left with the victim’s credit cards and cash.
The woman who first went to the hotel is described as being in her mid-20s, 5’7†in height and around 115 lbs. She has long, dark hair with blond patchy streaks at the tips. The woman may be aboriginal.
There is no description of the men but police say they believe the three suspects who went to the hotel were in a four-door car that had Alberta licence plates.
Anyone with information in regards to either of these incidents is asked to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment at 780-830-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
