The Fort St. John Senior ‘AAA’ Flyers won their first game of the season, heading to Hythe where they beat the Mustangs 10-4.
The Flyers dominated from the drop of the puck. They scored two goals in the first period and headed into the intermission with a 2-0 lead. Both first period goals were scored by Jeff Shipton.
It was the second period where the Flyers grabbed a stranglehold of the game. The Flyers scored seven goals in the period, to Hythe’s one goal, which put the game out of reach for the Mustangs. The Flyers scored a goal every way that period, it seemed, as they scored at even strength, on the power play and even short handed.
The Flyers added one goal in the third. Hythe score three goals in the third to pull the score to its final of 10-4, but by then it was far too late.
The Flyers play their first home game on Saturday night at the North Peace Arena. Faceoff is at 8:30 p.m.
