UPDATE RCMP investigate home invasion

UPDATE  Police now confirm that they have identified a person of interest.

The Fort St John RCMP have released details to Energeticcity.ca about a violent break and enter.

At approximately 3:30am on October 11, 2010, a husband and wife were sleeping when they awoke to two men inside their house on Lakeshore Drive in Charlie Lake.  The RCMP tell us they believe the suspects gained entry through a window.

The 61 year-old female resident managed to escape out a window after being sprayed with bear spray.  The 58 year-old male was attacked with bear spray and a hammer.  The male was hit several times in the head.  The male was released from the hospital several hours later after being treated for injuries to his head, hands and legs.

The suspects made off with cash and other personal items.  The RCMP believe the suspects fled on foot.  A police dog attended the scene to track the suspects, but was unsuccessful.

One suspect is described as male, caucasian, approximately 35 years of age, 5’6" to 5’8" with a mustache wearing a black hoodie.  The second suspect is described as short, wearing a black hoodie.

The RCMP believe this was not a random attack and the incident is still under investigation.  If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the RCMP at 250-787-8140.  You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online www.crimestoppersfsj.ca
