A wind warning has now been put into effect for the Peace Region. Southwest winds of 70km/h are expected with gusts up to 90km/h. BC Hydro is reporting power outages all over the region with major outages north of Charlie Lake and just south of Fort St John. As of 2:30 PM, BC Hydro is estimating to have the power back on in the various outages between 5:30 and 8 PM, however, that is subject to change depending on how long it takes crews to repair the lines.

Trees have been seen lying across power lines, while in town a parking lot cart shelter was blown into the side of a car. Residents are reminded to be careful while out, and watch for moving objects.

The winds are coming from a deep low pressure system over the Peace Region, which is creating a powerful southwest winds. The winds are estimated to died down late afternoon and early evening as the system heads north.
