Fatal two vehicle crash in northwest Alberta

In Northwest Alberta, a 55 year old resident of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation has died of injuries suffered in a two vehicle crash, about 9.45 last night, South of Valleyveiw.

The RCMP says he was the driver of a van, that was struck from behind by a pickup, on a straight, flat stretch of Highway 43.

The van entered the ditch and the driver and lone occupant was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Investigation continues, but police say it’s not believed poor weather or road conditions, excessive speed, or alcohol, were crash factors.
