Final hours of Movember marked with razors

For anyone who can’t wait to see the wide array of moustaches disappear, the wait will soon be over.
Over the past month, men have been growing moustaches in every shape and form for a global fundraiser called “Movember”.

The campaign has been raising money for prostate cancer research and awareness.

In the Peace River area, 179 participants from Fort Nelson to Dawson Creek have raised $21,012 for the cause, says Brent Hodson, Movember enthusiast.

Hodson says of that total amount, teams in Fort St. John have raised $19,607.

A final celebration will mark the end of the ’staches at Egans Pub in Fort St. John.

The party will begin at 7 p.m., Tuesday and various awards will be given out, including “Man of Movember” and “Best Team Mo”. There will also be a barber on hand to help leave men clean shaven.

Hodson says that one person has raised $3,948 over the course of the month, the most money raised by a single person in the region.

Neil Evans was the person who raised the most money as a participant with the ‘Murses’ team, representing all the male nurses at the Fort St. John Hospital.
