Fundraiser set to help local family

A fundraiser and benefit concert is being set up for a family that lost their house after a devastating fire on Remembrance Day.

The Brown family was left homeless after last Thursday’s early morning fire that destroyed their home on the 254 road, near mile 64 of the Alaska Highway.

Despite the donations that have been pouring in for the family – which includes four children between the ages of one and 13 years-old – the fundraiser is aiming to provide them with more money to help them get back on their feet.

Organizers say the family no longer needs donated items but does require money.

However, since the family lost everything in their home, people who knew them are asked to bring copies of photos of the Brown family, including of the couple’s wedding.

The fundraiser will be held at the Stonebridge Hotel in Fort St. John on Dec. 11 from 7 until 11:30 p.m. It will also include a silent auction and the band UnReSolved will be playing throughout the night.

The event is first-come first-served and the tickets will be available by donation.

In addition, monetary donations can be made to the Scotiabank account #10660 0541486 for Derrick Brown and Heather Sidoni.
