The Huskies bus is rolling through Alberta as I write this and the few players who made the trip this weekend are getting some well earned R and R. There was definitely some adversity for the Pups to face this weekend and they faced it well. Travis McLean was excellent in both starts as the injured Ty Gullickson was unable to make the trip. Brighton Campbell was more than an adequate fill in on the blueline. His efforts over the course of the weekend did not go unnoticed. In fact every player, all 11 of them, had a role to play in what turned out to be the Huskies best weekend so far this season in terms of effort and determination. I am not going to write too much as the battery on my laptop is getting low but I wanted to repeat the message from last night’s blog post. The Pups brought the lunch pails on the road with them to Edson and Slave Lake and there were plenty of positives from the weekend to bring back to Fort St John.
The Pups get back at it on home ice Friday night against Dawson Creek. Head down to the NPA at 8 o’clock and support the Huskies. They should have some more bodies on the bench on Friday and if they put forth the kind of effort we saw this weekend it should be a heck of a game. And don’t forget to join us on Saturday as the Pups head back to Peace River to take on the Navs at 8. 7:45 pre-game show.
Oh and I have decided I want to introduce a couple of new awards. The hard hit of the game and the hard working player of the game. It would be hard to single out one of the Pups from today’s game for the hard working player nod as they all put in a long shift. We can award the hard hit to Dendys for his hit against Whitecourt and Newton for a big hit in today’s action. Listen to the post game show from Peace River for the Huskies Player of the Game, Hard Worker of the Game and Hard Hit of the Game.
