Hydro and the City want you to have a green Christmas

The Celebrate Fort St. John Committee in conjuction with B.C. Hydro will be collecting old Christmas lights this weekend.

Residents that bring a strand of old Christmas lights to Home Hardware this Saturday between 10a.m. and 2p.m. will receive one new strand of green LED lights from B.C. Hydro. The old lights will then be recycled by the Crown Corporation.

B.C. Hydro has also just announced they will be helping Fort St. John go green this holiday season. B.C. Hydro Power Smart will pick two homes which will be completely redecorated in all new energy efficient holiday lighting.

Hydro will remove two resident’s old lights and put up the new lights at no cost to the winning contestants.
