North Peace Child Care Resource and Referral Program offers interactive screening

The North Peace Child Care Resource and Referral Program wants to offer parents a chance to help better prepare their three or four year-old child for preschool or kindergarten.

The Program is offering an interactive screening fair on Wednesday at the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Screenings can be attended from either 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Services offered at the screening include dental, hearing and vision checks. They will also offer nutrition advice and healthy snacks for children who attend. There will be a number of children’s activities to help those attending to better enjoy the experience.

Children are routinely screened at the age of 18 months to try discover any disasbilites, but then are not screened again until they are in Kindergarten. The Program wants parents to be able to detect any possible problems during the period in between this time.

Early detection will allow parents to better prepare their children before they enter school. For anyone seeking more information please contact the North Peace Child Care Resource and Referral Program at 250-785-5701.
