UPDATE : Police say the accident occurred because the driver of the 18- wheeler transport truck slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a deer.  The driver of the pickup truck was unable to stop and rear-ended the 18-wheeler.

They say speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.  The pickup truck was described as being completely destroyed.

The Fort St. John RCMP are on the scene of a motor vehicle incident at Mile 66 of the Alaska Highway.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning when a pickup truck rear ended a  semi-truck.

The incident is blocking the north bound land and it is believed the semi-truck is leaking some type of fluid.

Expect delays in the area and it sounds like there are only minor injuries.
