RCMP rule out cellphone use as cause of Cecil Lake collision

Fort St. John RCMP are still investigating the cause of a fatal accident on the Cecil Lake Road.

The accident happened shortly after 8:30a.m. Monday when two vehicles collided head-on.

The RCMP now say the vehicle driven by the 17 year-old male, crossed the centre line into the path of the east-bound vehicle. The RCMP have ruled out rumours that the cellphone use lead to the accident.

According to the RCMP the rumours the male was texting while driving are unfounded.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.

The teenage student and a 49 year-old educational assistant were killed in the collision.
