Scouts Canada is hoping to up the number of children registering in its programs in Fort St. John.

The group is hosting a registration night, Wednesday where parents can register their boys and girls in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers or Rovers.

The main challenge is not necessarily finding enough children to register in the various programs, but finding enough adults to volunteer as leaders, says Andy Ackerman.

Children between five and seven years old can register for Beavers, between eight and 11 years old can register for Cubs and between 11 and 14 years of age can register for Scouts.

Ackerman says there are also two groups for older youth and young adults.

Youth between the ages of 15 and 17 can register for the Venturer program and adults between the ages of 18 and 25 can register for the Rover program.

Registrations will be happening at the Peace Lutheran Church on 108 Ave. on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m.
