A 19 year-old man is facing several charges after an early morning police chase involving the Dawson Creek RCMP. Early Tuesday morning, RCMP officers went to investigate a report that a vehicle had been stolen.

Police say while they were in the midst of their investigation, the suspected stolen vehicle passed by one of the police vehicles patrolling the area.

The driver of the suspected stolen vehicle quickly accelerated, lost control and crashed into a fence.

The male driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries. However, police say he lost consciousness and was subsequently taken to the hospital.

After the man was released from the hospital, police took him into custody. He faces charges of dangerous driving, flight from police, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The suspect had already been under conditions for having stolen a vehicle in September and crashing it into a ditch.
