Two people die in Spirit River Collision

A collision in Spirit River on Oct. 30 has left two people dead.

RCMP from Spirit River and Fairview responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. to a motor vehicle collision on the south side of the Dunvegan Hill. A southbound truck and two northbound trucks all collided with a moose in the middle of the road.

One of the northbound trucks lost control after striking the moose and entered a ditch on the eastern side of the road and rolled several times. Two passengers aboard the vehicle were ejected from the truck. Despite efforts from local paramedics both passengers died as a result of their injuries. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the collision.

At the request of the family the names of the deceased are not being released at this time.
