Dawson Creek man accused of drunk driving

A Dawson Creek man is facing three charges after he was stopped for impaired driving near Fox Creek, Alta.

Fox Creek RCMP say an officer was heading north on Highway 43 into the town when a vehicle travelling in the same lane nearly hit the officer’s car.

Police say the officer moved his car to the side and away from the other vehicle. However, the driver of the other vehicle followed him. The officer then pulled his car off the road, barely avoiding a collision.

The officer then pulled over the other vehicle and arrested Jason Lemaitre.

The 37 year-old man is facing one count of impaired driving, one count of dangerous driving and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 80mgs per cent.

Lemaitre will have a court appearance in Fox Creek Provincial Court on Jan. 24.
