The Dawson Creek RCMP has indicated that slippery road conditions were a factor, and it has used a news release on a fatal two vehicle crash to again remind local area motorists of the need to install winter tires, and to adjust driving habits to road conditions.

The police report says a 40 year old Dawson Creek woman, identified as Sara Kolkea, died in Dawson Creek hospital of injuries suffered in the crash, shortly before 5pm Tuesday.

They also say she was the driver and lone occupant of a Sports Utility Vehicle West bound on Swan Lake Road, that pulled infront of a North bound tanker truck on Highway Two.

The crash did result in a detour, and single lane traffic in the area for several hours.  As of 6 a.m., the website www.drivebc.ca, reports the road in the area is still down to single lane alternating traffic.  The times posted on DriveBC are pacific time.
