UPDATE  The 32 year-old accused has been identified as Vishnu Sharma.  He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, breach of undertaking and posessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.


Prince George RCMP are investigating after one man was stabbed near the Columbus Community Centre.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning around 1 a.m. when police got a call about a stabbing at the Centre.

Police say a 20 year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C., but they have not released the extent of his injuries.

They say witnesses had reported an older model green GMC Jimmy leaving the area where the stabbing took place. The vehicle was tracked down and a 32 year-old man was arrested.

The accused is believed to be a resident of Vancouver, but is often in the Prince George area.

Neither the accused nor the victim’s names have been released, but police say they are known to each other and the attack was targeted.
