RBC investing in local charities

Three societies in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek are among several charities in the Peace River region receiving investments from the Royal Bank of Canada.

RBC is donating $139,500 to 19 nonprofit organizations in the Peace to support community partnerships.

RBC officials say the donations are used to support initiatives and programs with a focus on education, health, social services, arts and culture and environmental causes.

The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation is receiving $5,000 and in Dawson Creek, the Canadian Cancer Society is receiving $1,000 and the Salvation Army is receiving $5,000.

The other communities in the Peace receiving charitable donations are Grande Prairie, Edson, High Prairie, Hinton, Slave Lake and Whitecourt, Alta.
