Three societies in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek are among several charities in the Peace River region receiving investments from the Royal Bank of Canada.

RBC is donating $139,500 to 19 nonprofit organizations in the Peace to support community partnerships.

RBC officials say the donations are used to support initiatives and programs with a focus on education, health, social services, arts and culture and environmental causes.

The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation is receiving $5,000 and in Dawson Creek, the Canadian Cancer Society is receiving $1,000 and the Salvation Army is receiving $5,000.

The other communities in the Peace receiving charitable donations are Grande Prairie, Edson, High Prairie, Hinton, Slave Lake and Whitecourt, Alta.
