One dead after accident near Hasler Flats

One man is dead following a head-on collision near Hasler Flats.

The Chetwynd RCMP report on Friday at approximately 6p.m., members of the RCMP responded to a motor vehicle incident involving two pick up trucks on Highway 97 and Hasler Flats.

The two trucks collided in the head-on collision after one pick up truck started fishtailing and crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic.

The driver that crossed the centre line was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was the only occupant in that vehicle.

There were no injuries to the two passengers in the other vehicle.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

In the area of the incident, Highway 97 has been reduced to single lane alternating traffic.

Poor weather conditions and icy roads are considered to be a factor in the collision, but the RCMP are still investigating all other avenues of the incident.
