The expected rise in energy development in the North Peace Region has resulted in a study to better understand and manage the anticipated effects.
The study, conducted by the North Peace Economic Development Commission (NPEDC), is titled the "North Peace Socio-Economic and Cultural Impact and Gap Analysis Study".

Specifically, the study has examined the effects that energy development will have on the region’s labour force, community infrastructure and environmental sector. The study also looked at how local culture might be impacted.
The primary focus of the study involved a review of existing legislations, regulations and policy directions in regards to the management of energy development activities within the region.
The secondary portion of the study involved gathering local and regional perspectives on the issues of development. Study participants were identified for their specific knowledge related to the energy sector.
