Water back on for trailer park residents

Water is back on for residents at the Peace Country Trailer Park in Fort St. John.

The City turned the water back on just after 2:30 p.m. Friday, after an emergency shut off had to be done following a three-inch water main that blew Thursday afternoon.

Robert Herman, owner of Sterling Management, says maintenance workers had been at one site performing maintenance and had to remove soil from a second area overlying the water line.

When the soil was removed, Herman says the release of pressure caused the line to blow and since workers could not stop the water leak, they had to ask the City to shut off the water.

Although he says workers had been at the site trying to fix the problem until 1 a.m. Friday morning, the repair wasn’t completed until later in the day.

Heather Jones is a resident of the Park and says the situation has been very frustrating since it was difficult to get answers about the situation from the property management company.

Jones says not having water for 24 hours causes problems for someone like her that has three young children at home.
