Cadets to take part in regional competition

Two Fort St. John cadets will be competing in the Regional Cadet Biathlon.

Cadets Carson Large and Bailey Van Der Meer have earned the opportunity to represent the 2276 Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corp in the upcoming event in Mount Washington, located in central Vancouver Island, west of Courtenay.

The competition will take place Saturday.

Competitors will ski three, two kilometre loops and shoot five targets at a 50 metre distance between each loop.

Large and Van Der Meer have been training since September and both say they are excited for the upcoming competition. The two cadets are being coached by the 2276-Biathalon coach, Ken Lane.

Both men qualified for the event at the Northern Zone Biathlon Competition, which took place in Prince George on Jan. 8.
