B.C. Liberal leadership candidate Kevin Falcon has made his second stop in the Peace River area since Premier Gordon Campbell announced on Nov. 3 that he would be resigning.

Falcon visited Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson and Fort St. John on Tuesday, meeting with local B.C. Liberal Party members.

During his brief visit, Falcon told members that he is the only candidate that has outlined a clear Northern Prosperity Agenda. However, Christy Clark was another candidate who had released a plan focusing on B.C.’s northern and rural communities and economies.

He also says he believes the north should have an engineering program so that they are trained in the north and retained in the north.

Furthermore, he says he believes the Province can open up billions of dollars worth of trade by opening up ports like Ridley Island and Kitimat.

He says there are currently 16 MLAs, including eight cabinet ministers, which support him in the leadership race. Peace River North MLA Pat Pimm has openly stated that he supports Falcon for the Liberal leadership.

Three other candidates have each visited Fort St. John since the race began. Christy Clark, George Abbott and Mike de Jong have all made one visit to Fort St. John in the past two months. Moira Stilwell and Ed Mayne are the two other candidates who have not yet visited the Fort St. John area.
