Fort St. John is now home to two new gold medals and one silver medal.

Over the weekend, Darlene Jakubowski competed in the Special Olympics figure skating event, which took place in Coquitlam, B.C.

Jakubowski outperformed other skaters to earn two gold medals in the competition. She placed first in both the Dance and Solo Technical categories.

Jokubowski is a resident of Fort St. John but skates with the Dawson Creek Figure Skating Club.

Colton Giesbrick also received a silver medal in the men’s figure skating event.
