The Fort St. John Huskies will not be making the trip to Whitecourt on Sunday.

According to Huskies General Manager Vince Perderson, the team has decided to forfeit the game, giving Whitecourt two more points in the standings.

Two main factors played a role in this decision. The Huskies are still extremely short benched due to injuries and play back to back games Friday and Saturday. The lack of depth due to injuries, plus the fatigue factor, would put them at a large disadvantage against the first place Wolverines.

Secondly, is the commute from Whitecourt. The team would leave the city by roughly 11 p.m. and then take a six hour bus ride home. The team and management would arrive in Fort St. John early Monday morning, only to immediately begin another work week.

As a result, Fort St. John has decided to forfeit Sunday’s game. The Huskies are still scheduled to play Saturday night in Peace River against the Navigators.

Saturday’s game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and all the action can be heard live on 100.1 Moose FM. Make sure to also tune into the pre-game show, which begins 15 minutes prior to puck drop.
