Seven goals in two games were enough to earn the Petroleum Association Midget Flyers a chance to compete for a league championship.

In an interesting playoff style which determines a winner by most goals scored over a span of two games, the Midget Flyers eliminated the Dawson Creek Midget Canucks 7-6.

Saturday, game one saw the Flyers leave Dawson Creek with a 2-0 win under their belts. Ryan Bueckert was solid in net for the playoff shutout, with Tanner Moulton and Kyle Leonard providing the goal scoring.

Sunday at the Pomeroy Sport Centre, the Flyers got off to a great start, securing a 3-0 lead after the first. However, despite being down, Dawson Creek showed great character, battling hard to exit the second frame with a 5-4 lead in the game.

The third period had both teams exchange goals and even though the Midget Canucks won the second game by a score of 6-5, the Flyer’s total of seven goals in both games was greater than Dawson’s six.

As a result, the Flyers eliminated the Canucks from the post season and currently wait for the winner of the Peace River Vs Fairview series to determine who stands in their way for a league championship.
