School District 60 has officially appointed a new assistant superintendant after Lesley Lahaye announced her retirement from the position.

School District 60 Superintendant Larry Espe says Dave Sloan will take over the position in August and the District is currently in the process of redefining the position.

Espe says Sloan is already performing many of the duties that previous assistant superintendants had performed, so he may continue with parts of his portfolio, as well as taking on other items.

He says Lahaye will be missed but that he believes Sloan will make a good replacement.

Sloan has been a director of instruction with the board since 2006 and before that has fulfilled several roles in different schools across the region, including teacher, vice principal and principal.
