At the scene, it was determined that a west bound pick-up truck had lost control and ended up in the east bound lane.  The west bound truck was then hit on the passenger side at highway speed by a east bound pick-up truck.

As a result, the driver and passenger in the east bound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the west bound truck was air lifted to Grande Prairie with chest injuries and the female passenger in the same vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Dawson Creek and is believed to have non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the accident continues at this time.

Highway 2 in the area will remain closed until 5pm Monday. There is a detour in place around the collision scene.
