Fort St. John fire crews were able to quickly extinguish a fire at the construction site of the new Fort St. John Hospital Wednesday morning.

The fire started shortly after 8:00 a.m. near a loading dock at the new facility. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the Fire department believes the fire may have started near a portable welding unit.

Fire Chief Fred Burrows says it was a large volume fire and the smoke was visible all over Fort St. John. Most of the damage is to the exterior of the building.
