UPDATE For more information regarding a statement released by the City of Fort St. John on the resolution, click here.

Fort St. John’s mayor will be under stringent restrictions as of March 15 after Fort St. John City Council passed a motion regarding his conduct.

The motion, which is now being made public, stems from a closed meeting council conducted on Feb. 28. The motion states that the City had received complaints about Bruce Lantz’s conduct and that “Council considers the conduct of the Mayor to have been unacceptable.”

The motion stipulates that Mayor Bruce Lantz will not be allowed to meet or travel by himself with a City female employee. He will also not be allowed to travel outside the region as a City representative unless Council specifically consents to the travel and another Councillor can travel with him.

Furthermore, the motion specifies that several of the Mayor’s appointments on different boards are being terminated.

When asked for a comment on the motion, Grace Fika, the City’s Corporate Affairs and Human Resources director says the motion will be brought up at Monday’s council meeting and she will not comment on it before that time.

The mayor was not present at the City’s regular council meeting on Feb. 28 when the motion was brought forward at the closed meeting, following council.

Mayor Bruce Lantz has not yet returned a request for comment by Moose FM on the resolution.

A copy of the resolution is attached below.
