The Petroleum Association Midget Flyers have earned themselves a spot on the league championship banner.

Saturday, the Midget Flyers traveled to Fairview, taking place in the league championship game, leaving the city as champions with a dominant 8-2 win.

The game belonged to the Flyers from the opening face off, as the boys scored the games first goal only five minutes in and led for the remainder of the game.

Special teams played a significant role in the Flyers victory, as their power play scored three times on seven attempts.

Leading the way offensively for the Flyers were Blair Karasiuk, who had two goals and two assists and Cayle Bell, who earned himself a goal and two helpers.

After the game, Flyers coaches Bronc Donis and Don Aitken said how they were really impressed with the effort of their team, especially how they never let up out shooting their opponents. The Flyers out shot Fairview 42-28.

Ryan Buekert was solid in between the pipes for the Flyers.

Next on the agenda for the Midget Flyers are the B.C. Tier 2 Championships in Salmon Arm, which begin on March 20.
