The collision occurred at around 3:50 a.m. Friday.

Dawson Creek RCMP say they, BC Ambulance and the Tomslake Fire Department all attended the scene.

Police say a northbound Dodge one tonne pickup truck crossed the centre line and drove into oncoming traffic. The truck then crashed into a southbound GM pickup truck.

The male driver of the southbound pickup truck, who was a resident of Tomslake, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the Dodge pickup truck suffered only minor injuries and was transported to Dawson Creek Hospital. The Fort St. John resident was then later released from hospital.

Police say they have ruled out weather as being a factor in the crash. They also say the highway was clear at the time of the collision.

The highway is currently closed while police investigate and a detour is in place. Drive BC estimates the highway could be open by 12 p.m.
