Treaty 8 First Nations are worried the Province is not properly addressing their concerns as the Consultation Process Agreements expire Thursday, March 31.

The CPA specify the consultation process between the First Nations group and the Energy Ministry and the Oil and Gas Commission on oil and gas issues.

Treaty 8 representatives say they have been attempting to set up a consultation since December to discuss new agreements.

They say they want the ability to help protect their way of life, along with the ability to discuss any potential impacts on their water and territorial resources.

They also say they want to make sure any decisions made are done in an educated manner and consider opportunities for their communities.
