Wind farm near Chetwynd now operating

The Dokie Wind project near Chetwynd is now complete and generating electricity.

The wind farm was a joint project between Plutonic Power Corporation and GE Energy Financial Services. The companies have jointly announced that the wind farm realized commercial operations on Feb. 16.

The project will be able to provide power to approximately 34,000 homes, Plutonic said in a press release.

The $228 million project took a little more than a year to complete, which included erecting 43 wind turbines. The joint project will also be selling electricity to B.C. Hydro under a 25-year Electricity Purchase Agreement.
