A Grande Prairie man is dead after a Sunday night collision on Highway 43 near Demmitt, Alta.

Grande Prairie RCMP say the collision occurred between a Super B tractor trailer and a Volkswagen Jetta at around 10:30 p.m.

Police are still investigating the collision but say the driver of the Jetta was heading East, when he crossed the centre line near Range Road 132 and smashed into the back of the tractor trailer, which was heading west.

The 77 year-old driver of the Jetta died of his injuries. The 49 year-old driver of the Semi from Tumbler Ridge was not injured.
